Renaissance Resonance

"The aim of art is to represent not the outward appearance of things, but their inward significance."

- Aristotle

This experience is a culmination of 12 weeks of collaborative practice, bringing together art, photography and music.

I am drawn to the mundane, the everyday, the objects and moments overlooked, the simple things unappreciated and undervalued, and as an artist I seek to represent and shine a light on these in a perfectly imperfect way.

With a deep interest in how external sensory stimuli can affect our perceptions of art, I have combined a variety of layered audio with oil paintings of mundane items to see if what we hear can affect what we see, what we think about, how we feel and how we perceive art. To contribute to this, the paintings are purposefully untitled with no explanatory text to allow for authentic interpretation.

Headphones are recommended to maximise the immersive experience and encourage deep thinking, contemplation and evocation.

After viewing the paintings with the accompanying audio, I would like to invite you to leave a comment in the box below.

The short film playing is documentation of an exciting collaborative journey, working with exceptionally talented people within the arts, combining strengths and disciplines to realise this project to success. I would like to extend my utmost gratitude to Stephen Hall and Chris Collet for their time, their skill and talent in their field, and their undoubted passion for the arts.

Thank you
